The Drakensberg Rock Art Safari Tour can be divided in to the following options: Giants Castle: This beautiful valley of the Bushman’s River seems to be the richest in prehistoric rock art in the world, however there are other sites we deem to be better… Visitors will visit Main Caves and depending on time constraints, Bamboo Shelter, Steel’s Shelter, Willcox’s Shelter and perhaps even Elephant Shelter. Accommodation options: Kamberg: Host to one of the finest painted Shelter’s in South Africa, Game Pass Shelter. Accommodation options: Sani Pass: View horses and riders, some human figures, eland, woman with a baby and even a cattle raid! Visitors will go to Good Hope Caves, Inkanti Mountain and Mpongweni one of the larger shelters. Accommodation options: Injisuthi: Battle cave – see warriors, arrows, animals with tusks, it is full of detail and a personal favorite. Accommodation: Mountaineer Rock Art Safari: For those fit enough to climb to and walk along the contour path, and adventurous enough to sleep in rock shelters and / or tents will have the privilege of visiting paintings not many people view due to the remoteness. |
